Strictly: Janette says Christmas plans with Aljaz ’up in the air’
Janette, 37, and Aljaz, 30, have been married for three years after tying-the-knot back in 2017 and both Strictly Come Dancing stars are very candid when talking about their life together. The pair got engaged in 2015 after several years of being in a relationship so having to be separated due to coronavirus rules has been a real challenge for the couple. They are hoping to be reunited when the BBC dance show concludes next weekend, however, but they don’t know what the future holds for them in the weeks beyond as they celebrate the festivities.
Speaking on Thursday’s edition of Morning Live, Janette was asked about her Christmas plans with her husband.
Host Gethin Jones, 42, said: “[You’ve been on before and said] it’s really hard not seeing Aljaz, how difficult it ha been to be apart?
“What are your plans for Christmas because your families are all over the world, aren’t they?” the presenter enquired.
The professional dancer explained: “Aljaz and I, we kind of take turns. So, one year we go to Slovenia to see his family and then one year we go to Miami.
“This year, we were meant to be going to Miami but because of COVID restrictions and guidelines, we’re still trying to find out if it would be possible for us to go and be back in time and ready to continue working in January.”

“At the moment, our Christmas plans are really up in the air but I’m crossing all my fingers we get to go and see my family and we get to do it as well,” Janette added.
A couple of weeks ago, Aljaz was knocked out of the competition after he and his partner BBC Radio 1 star Clara Amfo, 36, were voted off.
The professional dancer’s wife was devastated to see him leave but she remains one of the hot favourites to win with chart-topper HRVY, 21.
Speaking about what she and her other half will get up to first once they’re reunited for the first time in months, the Cuban-born dancer said: “I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this publicly, put it that way!”

“Let’s just say we won’t mind being in a lockdown, I’ll tell you that. It’s been a tough year in many ways but we’ll make up for it,” she told The Sun.
The professional dancer also spoke about her chances of reaching the last episode of the season as she has never made it to the final.
Janette explained of not making it to this stage in the competition before: “A lot of my really close friends have been in the final year after year.
“So I feel like if I get through to the final, I’m not going to lie, I’m definitely going to break down in tears.”

The last time the professional dancer posted on Instagram with a picture of her and Aljaz was over a week ago.
In view of her 394,000 followers, Janette shared an intimate image of her and her other half posing topless in front of a log fire.
A rug covered their modesty but fans could see the love the pair have for one another by the way they smiled at each other.
Captioning the snapshot, the Cuban-born dancer wrote: “Oh the weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful #December #ChristmasTime.”
According to the latest odds from Coral bookmakers, Janette’s chances of taking victory currently stand at 7/4.
The professional dancer and her partner sit just behind Bill Bailey, 55, and Oti Mabuse, 30, who leads the charge at 11/10.
Spokesperson John Hill said: “This is one of the closest Strictly series there has been to call. The performances we see over the next two weeks are going to be crucial when it comes to who lifts the Glitterball Trophy.
“Bill Bailey remains the marginal favourite, however, both HRVY and Ranvir Singh are breathing down his neck in the betting.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.
