2018’s A Star Is Born is one of the best-reviewed films of its year. The plot is far from new, as this is the fourth filmed version of the story. Nevertheless, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s emotional journey drew audiences into A Star Is Born. Cooper was even more impressed with Gaga’s acting abilities. He recently said in an interview that one simple thing blew his mind while filming the movie.
‘A Star Is Born’ fans swooned over Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper
Jack (Cooper) is a hard-drinking musician who has the world in his hands. He discovers Ally (Gaga) playing at a bar and her talent instantly draws him in. Jack falls in love with the young singer, as A Star Is Born chronicles their love and her journey to fame. The film earned 8 Oscar nominations and won Best Original Song for “Shallow.”
Audiences fell in love with Gaga and Cooper’s stellar chemistry in A Star Is Born. They performed “Shallow” at the Oscars ceremony, which instantly blew up social media. The stellar performances elevated the familiar story’s impact for many critics and audiences. This iteration is going to stick in the minds of moviegoers for many more years to come.
Bradley Cooper’s mind was blown during filming
Variety reported on a conversation between Cooper and Ridley Scott. They discussed their experiences working with Gaga in A Star Is Born and House of Gucci, respectively. Cooper explained how one scene in particular absolutely blew his mind while working with her.
“For me, with working with her, I remember the thing that blew my mind,” Cooper said. “It seemed simple but I thought it was a tall order, when my character brings [Ally] onstage for the first time. I truly believed that that person had never been on a stage before.”
Cooper continued: “And I remember thinking, ‘How is she pulling this off?’ That I actually believe on every level — as the director, as the character — that this person has never been in front of 20,000 people before. That was really kind of mind-blowing.”
Lady Gaga is getting Oscar buzz for ‘House of Gucci’
The Academy Awards nominated Gaga for her performance in A Star Is Born, but she lost the Oscar gold to Olivia Colman in The Favourite. Gaga is one of the biggest musicians in the world, but she proved that she’s also an absolute powerhouse in front of a film camera.
Gaga is getting an abundance of Oscar buzz for her performance as Patrizia Reggiani in Scott’s House of Gucci. This year is proving to be a rather tight race with Kristen Stewart in Spencer leading many of the conversations. Nevertheless, Gaga is likely locked in for at least a nomination at this year’s Academy Awards. Audiences are criticizing her Italian accent, but the performance is getting a whole lot of praise otherwise.
Stay tuned to see if Gaga finally takes home the Oscar gold.
