LISA Faulkner has revealed she turned down a role on Emmerdale to work in a restaurant.
The 49-year-old, who was previously best known as an actress, admitted she had been “tempted” by the job but decided to “follow her gut” and pursue her passion in the kitchen.
Discussing her difficult decision, she told Psychologies Magazine: "I won Celebrity MasterChef in 2010 and, just before the show aired, I was offered a role on TV soap Emmerdale.
"It was such a lovely role and I was tempted, but something in me was saying, 'No, you want to cook.
"It was a sort of gut feeling.”
She continued: "I was working in restaurants at the time, trying to get as much experience as possible.
"I decided to take the plunge and turn down the acting job to focus on cooking.I had no idea it would become my career, but I am so glad I took the risk.”
Lisa was famed for her role as Victoria Merrick in Holby City, but also starred in EastEnders as Fi Browning.
She has also appeared in several long-running TV series, including Murder in Suburbia, Brookside and New Street Law.
After winning Celebrity MasterChef in 2010, Lisa turned her focus to TV hosting duties, specifically cooking programmes including What's Cooking? on Channel 4.
She also worked in her now husband John Torode's London restaurant, Smiths of Smithfield, shortly after her MasterChef win.
In 2019, the couple landed a weekend cooking show – John And Lisa's Weekend Kitchen on Sunday mornings on ITV.
