Loose Women viewers gobsmacked as Brenda Edwards takes a tumble live on-air

Brenda Edwards stunned Loose Women viewers on Monday afternoon when she took an epic tumble live on-air.

The 51-year-old star was a panelist on the latest episode alongside Andrea McLean, Judi Love and Carol McGiffin – who joined them virtually.

In the run up to Halloween this weekend, Brenda introduced viewers to her alter-ego and dressed up as a witch as she fronted this week's Loose Women competition.

However, she almost didn't survive Monday thanks to her high heels and some steps on the set of the ITV show.

Wearing a red jumpsuit complete with a black cape, a matching witch's hat and high heels, Brenda strolled on set in character but was soon left in hysterics as she lost her footing.

Andrea, Judi and Carol also started laughing as they realised Brenda had narrowly missed a full-blown accident.

Staying in character, Brenda joked in her witch's accent: "The broom didn’t help me, the broom didn’t help! She’s had a very busy day and she’s so tired.

As she stifled her laughter, Andrea then asked her: "Are you alright?" to which Brenda replied: "I’m alright ladies. I usually use the broom rather than heels to move about!"

Viewers watching at home were also in shock and took to Twitter to post about Brenda's blunder.

"Never mind @brenda_edwards you’ve just made 250 quid on You’ve Been Framed #LooseWomen," one person tweeted.

A second added: "Glad Brenda was ok and could see the funny side xx, while a third wrote: "Couldn't sound more like witches! Ironic as it's almost #Halloween2020 #LooseWomen."

Even the official Loose Women Twitter account shared the hilarious clip and wrote alongside it: "Heels < Brooms. Our Brenda learned that the hard way," with a laughing crying face emoji.

The panel were just about to interview actor John Cleese via video link when Brenda's tumble occurred, meaning he also saw the drama unfold and couldn't resist having a giggle about it too.
