Love Island 2019 murder probe as body found near villa ahead of launch

A murder close to the Love Island villa has been confirmed just days before the launch of the 2019 series.

Gloria Francisca Zavala’s body was found three weeks ago in the garage of her home in S’Arenal in Majorca, 35 miles from the home of the infamous ITV2 show.

It’s believed that the 53-year-old victim was strangled by her 16-year-old son, who was arrested in Brussels with his 17-year-old girlfriend last week.

According to Majorca Daily Bulletin, the pair returned to the island on Monday after a court approved their extradition.

Reports claim that the girl has indicated that her boyfriend confessed to murdering his mother on the same day her body was discovered.

The unnamed male is being held in custody charges for murder and fraud, with the latter stemming from allegations he used the credit card details belonging to a friend of his mum’s to book his travel to Belgium.

The murder case has been outed just days before Love Island is due to kick off, with the cast for the fifth series being confirmed earlier this week.

Although it’s not been announced how long the season will go on for, judging by past seasons we’re looking to see at least 40 to 50 episodes.

The Love Island villa is located in the east of the island in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar.

The current villa includes a pool, hot tub and garden with an outdoor kitchen area as well as the infamous Hideaway where couples can go to get some privacy, and renovation pictures show the contestants’ home will be getting a revamp.

Love Island is set to launch Monday 3 June at 9pm on ITV2.
