Love Island fans were left "cringing" on Sunday's episode after Chloe Burrows friend zoned Hugo Hammond after he saved her during last week's recoupling and laid into her ex Toby Aromolaran.
During Sunday's episode, after being encouraged by Aaron Francis, who was later dumped from the villa with Lucinda Strafford, Hugo, 24, decided to see whether anything could happen between him and Chloe, 25.
It came after Chloe's former partner Toby, 22, dumped her and picked new bombshell Abigail Rawlings on Thursday's recoupling with Hugo saving her and slamming the semi-professional footballer for his actions.
Pulling Chloe for a chat, the PE teacher said: "So basically we [him and Aaron] were talking about what I'm doing here now and things like that. He [Aaron] was like, 'What's happening, what you doing and what's the plan? What about Chloe?'

"And I said, 'I don't know!'" to which Chloe exclaimed: "Oh Hugo!"
Getting panicked, Hugo quickly clarified: "Nothing like that, don't worry, let me finish. I'm not sticking it on you… you've got to relax, breathe. Calm down!
"I've just got to double check that, obviously, I know what your type is. As we know, this place is mad and conversations can eventually happen, may as well do it soon to save any future hassle!"
Putting her head in her hands before continuing, Chloe said: "I just think, what we have been through and where I'm at. I just feel like, for me, it wouldn't be romantic because of how close we are.
"I wouldn't want to ruin that and I just don't know if there would be something, and I don't want to force it, if it's not happened naturally."
To which Hugo added: "If it hasn't happened by now, probably would have happened."
With Chloe agreeing: "Yeah, if it was going to happen, it would have happened naturally. But yeah."
The marketing executive thanked Hugo for having the conversation, adding: "You know how much I rate you, I literally love you more than anything," as she grabbed him for a hug.
Viewers were left "cringing" over the scenes with some fans joking it was "karma" after Hugo has previously friend zoned Sharon Gaffka, AJ Bunker and Georgia Townend.
One person said: "Hugo in bed knowing he saved Chloe only for her to reject and friendzone him #LoveIsland."
A different fan put: "Oh no Hugo that was cringe #LoveIsland."
Another follower commented: "HUGO. THIS IS SO CRINGE #LoveIsland."
While a different viewer added: "Hugo friendzoned 3 girls and tonight he's the one who got friendzoned by Chloe. Like Yewande said, what goes around comes around x #loveisland."
Elsewhere during the episode, Toby and Hugo had another confrontation over his words at the recoupling, with the semi-professional footballer saying he felt "massively betrayed".
On Friday's episode, Toby vowed to never "talk to him again" following an explosive confrontation and the two attempted to clear the air in the villa on Sunday.
On Thursday's episode, Hugo said during his speech about Chloe: "Not only is she out of this world beautiful, she is super intelligent, she is funny, and whenever I am with her I am definitely at my happiest.
"If I'm completely honest, she doesn't deserve to be treated how she has been in these past 24 hours. I firmly believe a lot of this test stuff is complete bulls**t.

"She deserves someone honest, communicates with her and who knows what could happen, stranger things have happened. So the girl I would like to couple up with, is… Chloe."
Chloe was left delighted over the speech as she exclaimed: "Love that so much!" while Toby was fuming as he ranted to his fellow Islanders: "What the f**k is that, would I f**king do that to him? What the f**k is that?"
