Faye Winter was reportedly ordered to apologise to Teddy Soares by Love Island producers who threatened to kick her off the show.
The blonde beauty and financial consultant came to blows on Friday 6 August's instalment of the hit ITV dating programme after Faye claimed Teddy had lied to her about his time in Casa Amor.
The 26 year old pulled the middle finger on him and went off on a sweary rant while Teddy called her "childish" before she decided to end things between them.
The explosive row sparked outrage by viewers, who immediately flocked to Ofcom to lodge over 24,000 complaints about her behaviour.
Since then, however, Faye has apologised to Teddy, also 26, and they appear to be back on track in their romance, with the star notably admitting being a girlfriend "doesn't sound so scary anymore".
Now, it's been reported that Faye was actually ordered to apologise to Teddy after thousands reported her to the government watchdog.
Speaking to MailOnline, a TV insider said: "Faye was ordered by producers to apologise to Teddy, and not only that but to grovel for forgiveness."
The source added: "They warned if she refused to back down her place on the show could be in doubt and as the latest arrivals have shown, there's always a new contestant waiting in the wings."
OK! Online has approached ITV for further comment.
Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson previously thought that this was the case, too, as he took to his Instagram to voice his opinions on the drama between the two contestants.
Filming his TV in the video, Sam said: "She's been told by the producers that she acted like s**t.
"And they might have even shown her? 'Cause the backtracking now is something I’ve never seen before. You don’t backtrack like that unless you’ve been told about yourself."

Sam’s partner, Zara McDermott, a former Love Island contestant herself in 2019, also agreed.
Zara could be heard in the background of the video saying: “That quickly as well.”
Fans were quick to agree with Sam as Tuesday 10 August night’s episode aired, with Faye going all out to try and repair the bonds she broke within the villa.
