Mandy Dingle is staying in Emmerdale as Lisa Riley signs new contract

It’s hard to imagine what Emmerdale would look like without Mandy Dingle. Quite frankly, we wouldn’t want to find out, and thankfully, we won’t have to, as actress Lisa Riley has signed a new contract to stay on the soap.

Lisa, who first played Mandy between 1995 and 2001, reprised her iconic role in 2019, and has been on the ITV soap ever since.

‘I honestly still pinch myself that I get to play such an amazing character as Mandy,’ she said.

‘I can’t put into words how much I love it.

‘I’ve just re-signed my contract and I have no plans to leave.’

The best news.

The soap star, who also appeared in Bad Girls, added that she receives plenty of offers for work, but is ‘super happy’ remaining on Emmerdale.

‘It’s nice to know that I get loads of offers from other dramas, but I am happy to say no at the moment because I am super, super happy,’ Lisa added to The Mirror.

‘I am really proud to play Mandy. She is starting to get iconic soap
status and I love that.’

We reckon she’s already iconic, to be honest.

Mandy is at the centre of huge scenes this week, as she faces off with nemesis Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) in what promises to be an incredibly memorable fight.

‘Me and Nicola had been isolated and bubbled, we could touch each other,’ explained Lisa to ‘So after all these months and months, we could touch.’

‘Obviously Steph the choreographer said ideally we’d like the doubles to do it but I said: “No, I’m doing it. Look, if I can pick Robin Windsor up in Strictly, Nicola Wheeler is a pigeon”.

‘Literally I’ve got Nicola on my shoulders, we were spinning!’

We can hardly wait!

Emmerdale airs Monday-Fridays at 7pm, with an additional episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
