On Thursday’s BBC Breakfast, hosts Naga Munchetty and Jon Kay were back to present the latest news headlines. Some of the topics of conversation were about whether Christmas parties will go ahead this year to school nativity plays being cancelled. During one segment, Naga and Jon discussed the parts they played in their school nativity play.
Naga’s comment came after they showed a south London school getting ready to perform their Christmas play.
“Remember those butterflies in your stomach when you’re getting ready to go on stage,” Naga began.
Jon replied: “Yeah, all the mums and dads waiting outside.”
“And you’ve got your one line,” Naga joked before laughing.
“And you’re [dressed] as Humpty Dumpty,” Jon replied as he explained that was the part he had in his school nativity.
“Somethings never change,” Naga joked as she quickly moved on to the next segment.
However, the host did apologise to her co-star for her previous comment.
“Now to get the news, travel and weather where you are,” Naga said.
She quickly added: “I am sorry, I didn’t mean it.”
Some viewers were quick to point out Naga’s swipe at Jon, with Ken tweeting: “Did you catch that really nasty snipe from Naga?
“(Jon Kay complained that as a child he only got the tiniest of parts in the School Nativity play – Naga instantly sneered ‘Some things never change’)”
