The National Television Awards is meant to be a night full of glitz and glamour highlighting the best that the small screen has to offer, but often it ends up being more than a little cringeworthy.
Some of the moments are still making headlines decades later (sorry, Judy Finnigan – more on that later).
The first ceremony was held in August 1995 and was hosted by Eamonn Holmes at the Wembley Conference Centre.
Nowadays it takes place at the O2, and for 2021 Joel Dommett will be on hosting duties, taking over from David Walliams last year.
Here are some of the cringiest moments from the awards.
Judy Finnigan's flash
The much-loved This Morning presenter revealed a lot more than she intended to when she took to the stage to accept an award alongside husband Richard Madeley.
Her now-iconic wardrobe malfunction happened back in 2001.
Poor Judy's top opened as she went onstage, leaving her white bra on display to the audience at the Royal Albert Hall, and more than 12 million viewers at home.
Even worse, she and Richard seemingly had no idea what was going on.
Colleague John Leslie realised they were none the wiser, and he ran on stage to help preserve Judy's modesty and cover her up.
Fans at home were cringing over Georgia "Toff" Toffolo's presenting style back in 2018.
The I'm A Celeb star was interviewing other celebs backstage when viewers noticed an annoying habit.
One ranted: "Toff is so awkward," while another added: "David Walliams trying to answer his backstage questions with Toff awkwardly talking over him 'ammmaaaazing' 'sooo pleased for you' 'oh wowwww'," before adding "cringe" hashtag.
They also compared Toff to bumbling Bridget Jones.
Some fans were kinder than others, saying: "Aww I love Toff."
Sheridan Smith vs traffic
It's the stuff of anxiety dreams – missing out on your big moment to shine.
Unfortunately for Sheridan Smith it became a reality when she got stuck in chaotic traffic on her way to the awards in 2015.
She won the award for Best Drama Performance for her starring role in Cilla.
When she finally made it, the star went onstage saying: "I am so sorry. So embarrassing. Can you imagine, being stuck in the car for three hours.
"I've got nothing planned other than to say sorry.
"Do you know what, I couldn't believe I won when I was in the car."
Chris Hughes paparazzi scuffle
Former Love Islander Chris ended up owing his girlfriend at the time – Jesy Nelson – an apology after he came to blows with a paparazzi photographer.
The star was photographed brawling with the snapper, but said it was "self-defence."
"I want to address last nights altercation," he said on Instagram stories.
"I was having an amazing night celebrating the award my girlfriend deservedly won.
"After coming out of our hotel a particular paparazzi decided to repeatedly call me a name I wouldn't call my worst enemy, and physically try and start an altercation.
"As everyone can see I retaliated back badly to this which I totally regret. I'm human.
"No different to anyone else.
"However I want to make everyone aware this was only in self defence.
"I hope people I care about including my followers, family and friends can understand and forgive me.
"This night was about Jesy's win and I am sorry if I distracted anyone from this.
"Ultimately, I'm the proudest boyfriend ever and want to congratulate my amazing girlfriend for a deserving win. I am so proud of you."
Tulisa's red carpet malfunction
Everyone wants to look their best on the red carpet, but Tulisa's outfit gave away more than she expected.
The N-Dubz star and former X-Factor judge looked stunning in white, but her dress gaped open to give a flash of what was underneath.
Rather than being sexy lingerie or something she wouldn't mind showing off, the stunning star accidentally revealed a trusty pair of Spanx under the fitted dress instead.
Ruth and Phil "frosty" interaction
It made for painful viewing for This Morning fans when there was a decidedly icy exchange between Philip Schofield and Ruth Langsford onstage.
The team had gone up to accept their Live Magazine Show award, when Phil awkwardly put his arm around Ruth's waist.
Phil reached over as Ruth stood next to him. He put his arm around her as he thanked her and husband Eamonn Holmes.
It came a year after Ruth lodged a complaint to ITV about Philips behaviour. Many viewers at home thought his gesture was false or "staged" because of this.
Holly and Phil hungover
Finally, you can't talk about the NTA's without discussing the morning after the big event, when Holly and Phil turn up rather worse for wear and find the whole thing very funny.
Instead of finding it hilarious, quite a few viewers thought it was unprofessional and were unimpressed, and in 2020 several fan called the duo "fake", saying they "put it on" every year.
"When will Holly and Phil realise that this whole post-NTA “hungover” show is just boring now" said one.
"What-for Phil and holly to pretend to be still drunk again," added another,
One fumed: "Cue fake drunk Phil and Holly"
