Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) returning home after his stroke has been something on Rhona Goskirk’s (Zoe Henry) mind ever since her partner was admitted to hospital.
His life back in the Dales has been something Marlon has missed hugely over the past few weeks. He struggled to watch a video from his friends and family and even refused to see people for a while, unable cope with his life changing so dramatically.
Thanks to Marlon’s positive progress, he returns home soon – but things don’t get off to the best of starts as his family begin to adapt to a new way of living.
In the village, April (Amelia Flanagan) is busy preparing her welcome home decorations for Marlon.
In hospital, Marlon is preparing to leave and thanks wonderful Doctor Gail for her kindness throughout his time there.
As Marlon finally arrives back in the Dales, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) watch from the pub as he enters his home.
However, once Marlon settles in, chaos soon begins as his family start to work out a way of moving forward.
While April is spending time with her dad, she helps him with a glass of water, but when Marlon starts choking, she believes he’s having another stroke.
The next day, clearly impacted by the ordeal, April decides to spend time at a friend’s house rather than be at home.
Marlon despairs to see the stress his condition is placing on his family and starts to wonder if he should return to hospital.
But can his family persuade him to stay?
