STRICTLY’S KATIE MCGLYNN SNUBS EX GIOVANNI PERNICE AS SHE FOLLOWS ALL THE PRO DANCERS APART FROM HIM

SOAP star Katie McGlynn followed every pro dancer except ex-boyfriend Giovanni, after announcing she will be joining Strictly Come Dancing.

The Hollyoaks and Coronation Street star was linked to the hunk back in 2017 – shortly after he split from her co-star Georgia May Foote. Katie took to Instagram on Tuesday to share her excitement for the show.

The 28-year-old captioned the glitzy unveiling video: “Pass me those sequins @bbcstrictly. I AM SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS!! But as long as I don’t fall over mid-routine I’ll be quite happy!

“And what a line up we have already… cannot wait to meet everyone and start this crazy journey with my new Strictly fam. Let me know which dance you want to see me try my hand at the most… #strictly.”⁣

However, eagle-eyed fans spotted Katie followed all the pro dancers on Instagram except for her ex-boyfriend Giovanni.

STRICTLY COME DANCING PROFESSIONALS AT WAR OVER WHO GETS SAME-SEX PAIRING

MALE Strictly pros are enraged by the prospect of Bake Off star John Whaite being paired with newcomer Kai Widdrington – because at 6ft 2ins he’s the show’s tallest dancer.

There’s been a scramble to be in the BBC1 contest’s all-male duo as they know their performances are likely to be the most closely watched of the upcoming series.

There’s been an expectation that tall John, 32, would be paired with some of the pros including Aljaz Skorjanek, 31, Johannes Radebe, 34, and Graziano di Prima, 27, who are all around 6ft tall.

A TV insider said: “Producers are keen to pair up John with the right dancer and that means ensuring he has someone of a similar height – and Kai fits the bills perfectly.

“Kai also has experience of being in a same sex pairing as last year he was coupled with Big Brother star Brian Dowling on Ireland’s version of Strictly. But there’ll be disappointment felt, in particular, by Johannes and Graziano as two years ago they blazed a trail by performing the show’s first all-male dance routine on the show.”

WHAT HAS ROSE AYLING-ELLIS SAID ABOUT HER STRICTLY APPEARANCE?

Speaking about becoming Strictly’s first deaf contestant she said: “Finally! about time – but I can’t believe it’s me that’s doing it.

“I’m so, so excited and I think it will be great to break the stereotype that people think that deaf people can’t enjoy music and learn to dance – so I’d better be able to dance.

“Now it’s out there’s no going back, that’s it, I’m doing it. I’m going to be in it to be there all the way through, otherwise what is the point? the glitterball – that is what I want.

“Every time I watch it, the people on it seem to be having the best times of their lives, so why would I not want to do that?

“The cast of eastEnders are family, they’re really excited, they’re so proud of me and they’ve already been so supportive of me and I think they’re going to be really happy for me.”

Gordon told his daughter in the video: “Hey Tils it’s your dad – TikTok coach, dance extraordinaire… wishing you all the very best.”

Gordon couldn’t help but add: “And don’t date those dancers!”

Luckily Tilly saw the funny side of it and said: “Of course he had to slip in something embarrassing!”

It is not known who Tilly will be dancing with this series.

She added: “It is the hardest secret I have ever had to keep so it feels amazing to finally have this out in the open. I hope I will do the deaf community proud and break down more barriers.

“But I am also very excited to learn an incredible new skill and even better I get to learn whilst wearing beautiful dresses made especially for me.”

STRICTLY WAS ROCKED BY COVID CRISIS LAST YEAR

This is not the first time Strictly has faced a Covid crisis.

Despite all pros and celebs being made to isolate for a fortnight prior to filming, and being made to test twice weekly, boxer Nicola Adams and her partner Katya Jones were forced to leave in 2020 after the Russian pro dancer tested positive.

Singer HRVY also caught the virus days before the launch show aired last October. Judge Motsi Mabuse was forced to self-isolate for two weeks after making an emergency trip back to Germany.

Last night, a BBC spokesman declined to comment.
