Strictlys Dan Walker claims his secret weapon to beat rivals is flapjack

Strictly star Dan Walker has revealed he has a secret weapon to beat his rivals – flapjacks.

The BBC Breakfast presenter, 44, reckons munching on the snack is helping him and his partner Nadiya Bychkova stay on the show.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I thought I’d be gone in two weeks, but I’m still here. I’ve been having flapjacks before each show.

“I’ve introduced Nadiya to them as well. And it is helping.

“Now I want to see how far I’ll go.”

Dan has survived three eliminations, seeing off celebs including Greg Wise, 55.

But the star is the first to admit he is not a natural when it comes to performing.

He added: “I’m not a great dancer and I don’t think I ever will be. But for me, Strictly is about somebody who has always felt awkward and avoided the dance floor who goes on to learn how to do a half-decent Viennese waltz.

“I am not exuding confidence on the dance floor and I still feel a bit reticent about it.

“But my attitude is completely different to how it was five weeks ago because now I am really enjoying it.

“I am loving the process of learning the different dances and I never thought I would be in that situation.”

Dan has also scored when it comes to his close bond with former Playboy model Nadiya, 32.

The pair have become close pals after five weeks of training.

He said: “Sometimes you meet someone at the right time in your life. Me and Nadiya have got a really strong friendship and we get on really well and I’ve learned an awful lot from her.

“For me, that has been the best thing about the programme.”
