She added: "Wow. What memories. Have you ever danced at Blackpool? Xx #throwback #ballroom #dance #strictly."

In one of the snaps Shirley could be seen smiling sweetly while wearing a very elaborate frock.

With big earrings peeking out from her short hair-do and a pink floral dress with feathered details, the head judge of the BBC One programme looked very different.

Other snaps saw Shirley strutting her stuff on the iconic dancefloor of the Tower Ballroom as she danced around with a dance partner.

Fans of the 62-year-old who is often referred to as "The Queen of Latin" were quick to comment on Shirley's ageless beauty and sweet memories.

"You look amazing then and you haven’t changed a bit. You’re one amazing lady," penned one fan.

"How amazing Shirley! You are the Queen of Ballroom and Latin," added another.

A third sweetly penned: "Looking fabulous then and now Shirley," while a fourth added: "Fantastic photos. 10 from me, Shirley."

"How sweet are those pictures and how far you have come precious memories," penned a fifth.

Shirley began dancing at just seven years of age and did so for many years before she stopped competing in dance competitions in 1996.

She went on to become a dance coach and judge for ballroom and Latin American competitions.

The head judge's throwback snaps came as the celebrities and their professional dance partners danced on the iconic dancefloor of the Tower Ballroom in the beloved seaside town.

But some fans weren't impressed with the montage that played before the show kicked off.
