Fans of NBC’s hit crime drama have been waiting for months for the first details of The Blacklist’s eagerly awaited 10th season. The milestone instalment will pick up after several major players left the long-running series, though Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington (played by James Spader) will remain front and centre as it heads into a new era. Thankfully, it won’t be long before filming begins once again.

Crew member David Waldron has confirmed the first day of filming for The Blacklist season 10 has been set.

David worked as a casting director for the show’s latest season, in addition to series such as FBI, Almost Family and God Friended Me.

On Twitter, he confirmed: “And just like that…Day 1 of Season 10 is booked!”

It has yet to be revealed when the 10th season will begin shooting, but it’s safe to assume it won’t be long before James and the rest of the cast are back on set.

The Blacklist fans were naturally thrilled to see the series is one step closer to new episodes coming to screens.

Twitter user @Greenstone35 replied: “How exciting!!” And @Liv_Noah_Benson said: “Awesome, congrats!!”

@Georgettewan retweeted David’s news and said: “I am thrilled to anticipate season 10.”

While @ItsSpader0207 replied with two thumbs up and added: “Here we go…”

Earlier this week, David teased: “Happy Tuesday! Morning meeting for season 10 of @NBCBlacklist. Gonna be a great season!”

To which @Greenstone35 responded: “I’m dying for it!!!!!”

And @AlyB1223 exclaimed: “Can’t wait to see!”

Season 10 is clearly well underway, so it may not be long before the first set photos and official details are revealed from NBC.

Fans were recently given more insight from fellow crew member, costume designer Christine Bean, who revealed a selection of Red’s iconic fedoras.

She captioned the update “Season 10”, so the headwear could all be worn by the mastermind next season.

Red is invariably seen with a dark trench coat and hats to match, so the lighter colours revealed in Christine’s post could indicate a different tone for the next season.

Meanwhile, fans are still speculating what the future of the series will look like following the exit of several main characters in recent years.

Season eight saw the devastating death of Liz Keene (Megan Boone), Red’s daughter, who served as the central protagonist since The Blacklist’s first season.

This year’s season nine finale also saw the departure of long-running agents Aram Mojtabai (Amir Arison) and Alina Park (Laura Sohn).

Season 10 may mark a brand new era for NBC’s smash hit crime drama, but fans should be assured the next season of The Blacklist will still have plenty of twists and thrills in store.

The Blacklist seasons 1-9 are available to watch on NBC in the USA and Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
