This Morning 'in crisis talks to axe Holly and Phil's Queen lying in state coverage' after queue row | The Sun

THIS Morning 'may axe' Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's Queen lying in state coverage after they were accused of jumping the Westminster Hall queue.

The ITV programme is said to be in crisis talks over whether to scrap the pre recorded segment following days of vicious trolling after they used media passes to see the Queen's coffin.

An ITV source told The Mirror: "This Morning are at a crossroads over if they run Holly and Phil's segment from the abbey – there have been a lot of discussions about how to air the footage especially with the horrific backlash.

"Everyone feels for Holly and Phil as they were just doing their job as working media but the whole thing has turned into a Twitter storm – bosses are even unsure whether to run it or not."

More than one million people – including David Beckham and Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid – waited up to 22 hours to pay their respects to the late monarch.

But programme bosses said in a statement on Instagram that their hosting duo Phil, 60, and Holly, 42, had attended Westminster Hall to film a segment due to air during Tuesday's show.

This Morning fans have now called on two presenters to replace Holly and Phillip this week.

Alison Hammond and Ruth Langsford are favourites with viewers who have also named Rylan Clark, Dermot O'Leary and Craig Doyle to step in.

One said: "Will @ITV do the right thing and pull Holly and Phil from #ThisMorning? No reason why other presenters like Rylan or Alison couldn't fill in. Nobody wants to see these #queuejumpers right now"

A second echoed: "Who does @thismorning think they are fooling?. They JUMPED the que for no reason but their own sense of entitlement. Bring back Rylan and Ruth for the love OF GOD."

Another said: "Who else can't bear Willoughby and Schofield sickly presence on #ThisMorning? I can't watch it unless it's Alison and Dermot, or Craig."

The ITV show has been cancelled today to make way for coverage on the Queen's state funeral.
