Comedy actor Adrian Edmonson is set to become the newest addition to the EastEnders cast when he joins Walford later this year.
He is most well known for his roles in Bottom and The Young Ones, but 62-year-old has taken on a few more serious roles in recent years.
In 2016 he took the role of Count Ilya Rostov in the BBC’s adaptation of War and Peace, and he also played Peter Elliot in the drama One of Us.
Speaking about his new role on the soap, Adrian said: ‘There were only fifteen boys on my drama course at Manchester Uni, and I’ll be the third to appear in EastEnders – so I feel it’s a kind of tradition!’

Who is Adrian Edmonson going to play In EastEnders?
Adrian will be playing the role of Daniel Cook in the soap, and he will be introduced as a love interest of Jean Slater.
The two of them will meet while Jean continues her treatment for ovarian cancer, and his support helps her get through such a difficult time in her life.
They are set to form a strong connection to each other thanks to his charm and sense of humour.
Jean has had a difficult few weeks after her cancer diagnosis, but she has since been able to bond with her son Sean, and Daniel’s arrival looks set to give extra support.
Jon Sen, executive Producer for EastEnders described Adrian as a phenomenal talent and said: ‘We’re all over the moon he’s coming to Walford and can’t wait for this love story to hit screens later this year.’
An exact air date for his first episode on EastEnders hasn’t been given yet, but we do know that he has already started filming and is expected to appear later this summer.
