WWTBAM winner Donald Fear bombarded with messages from pals begging for cash

Who Wants to be a Millionaire? winner Donald Fear has revealed he has been bombarded with beggy letters from old pals asking for a piece of his winnings.

Donald, from Telford, Shrops, won the life-changing amount on the ITV quiz show recently as he bagged the £1 million prize money.

But ever since he has been inundated with messages from former pals and people around the world wanting a part of his fortune.

He took home the whopping seven-figure cheque after the quiz master answered a series of questions correctly throughout the show.

The former teacher is even quitting his job at the end of the school term following his win.

Donald has now taken to his social media to update his new fan base on what life has been like since he won the show.

Taking to his Twitter account, Donald wrote: "Found a really weird begging letter (20,000 euros) from France in my pigeon-hole this morning (in addition to the 20 or 30 I’ve received via DMs on here).

"There are downsides to this win!"

He then tweeted again: "Now I’ve discovered that there is a ‘spam’ folder in Messenger."

Donald continued by recalling how it contains 132 messages from people wanting a bit of his new found fortune.

He wrote: "It contains 132 messages, including ones from old friends I’d lost touch with years ago.

"We’re talking primary school in Prestwich, first year at university, etc, as well as offers to go on BBC Breakfast, Sky News breakfast programme, Radio 5 Live as well as dozens of dodgy messages."

Donald said he is planning to spend most of his winnings on his family after they were hit hard by Covid-19.

Donald is the first contestant to win the jackpot while the show has been hosted by former Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson.

At the time, even a few of his former pupils rushed to congratulate him on Twitter.

One tweeted: "#donaldfear Massive shout-out to my old history teacher Don for the £1,000,000 win. Making and teaching history!!! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire #donfear."

A second said: "My teacher won a mill my king #DonaldFear #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire."
