Wallabies’ star David Pocock has had a revealing wardrobe malfunction during Australia’s opening match of the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The 31-year-old suffered an embarrassing moment during a tackle against Fiji on Saturday.

The flanker was wrapped up by Fijian defenders on the edge of a scrum, with a player awkwardly pulling down his football shorts.

Beneath his Wallabies’ team strip, Pocock was wearing a pair of bright budgy smugglers.

Football players of many codes will often wear a swimsuit beneath their uniform as they become sweaty and wet during matches.

Pocock was unfased at the incident, and rejoined his team in the back line.

The back-rower announced he will retire from rugby union at the end of the tournament, and is hoping for a strong showing in Japan to finish his decorated career in style.

The Wallabies survived an early scare from Fiji, taking the win 39-21.
