EU launches legal action against Hungary and Poland for anti-gay discrimination

The European Commission is launching legal action against Hungary and Poland’s governments over policies it says have discriminated against LGBTQ people.

Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday: ‘Europe will never allow parts of our society to be stigmatised: be it because of whom they love, because of their age, their ethnicity, their political opinions, or their religious beliefs.’
