  • Welsh side scored lowest total in history of the T20 competition in this country

A cricket match at the Oval was forced to paused play after a fox unceremoniously interrupted the game by relieving himself on the pitch.

The match between Surrey and Glamorgan had to be halted for a few minutes when the creature outfoxed security and scampered onto the pitch.

Mobile phone footage from the ground shows the pest sauntering up to two Glamorgan players before taking his position near the wicket.

Unswayed by a player’s effort to encourage him to move, the fox bends over while two officials stand only metres away.

But is not until one of the Glamorgan players realises that the wily fox has left his mark on the pitch that he holds his face in hands laughing.

As the crowd cheers with delight, security chase after the bushy-tailed animal.

One person in the crowd took a video, tweeting: ‘Fox having a quick toilet break on the pitch at the Oval during the @surreycricket T20 match,’ while another wrote: ’13 years a medic at the oval and now I’ve seen everything a fox just came onto the pitch at the Surrey v Glamorgan T20 and did a poo on the pitch’

Another user who seemed to find the funny side wrote: ‘A fox has just come on to the pitch at the Oval and has done a poo on it. I cannot believe my eyes’

But it was not just the fox’s antics that left a bad taste in the air.

Yesterday evening Glamorgan made unwanted history when they managed just 44 all out in reply to Surrey’s 141 – the lowest total in the history of the T20 competition in this country.
