Friends have been paying tribute online after an ex company director was found dead at her home in Somerset.

Although no formal identification has taken place yet, mourners paying their respects online have named the victim as 47-year-old Sarah Ashwell Joice.

One woman wrote: ‘Cant get my head round this at all…this world is just awful.

‘My love and thoughts with your boys not just now but forever more and your family..heartbreaking news.’

Another wrote: ‘RIP sarah always remember our laughs at work, your in the arms of the angels now my friend, until we meet again.’

It comes after police launched a murder probe following the discovery of her body at a property in South Street, Wells, at around 2.30pm on Sunday. 

Formal identification of the victim is still to take place and her cause of death has not yet been established, police have said.

However, the death is being treated as suspicious and two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: ‘Police are at an address in South Street, Wells, following the discovery of the body of a woman.

‘Officers were called to the property by the ambulance service just after 2.30pm on Sunday.

‘While the cause of the woman’s death is still to be formally established, detectives are currently treating it as suspicious and a murder enquiry has been launched.

‘Formal identification is yet to take place but the woman’s immediate next of kin have been informed and are being supported. Our hearts go out to them.

‘Two men were arrested overnight on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody this morning, Monday.’

A police cordon is in place around South Street while enquiries into the incident continue.

With a population of around just 12,000, Wells is a popular area of Somerset with a historic centre and city status due to its large cathedral. 

The city is often used as a base for visitors to the likes of Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Kilver Court Gardens and Glastonbury Abbey. 

Avon and Somerset Police has urged anyone with dashcam or phone footage of South Street over the weekend which could help, or anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area, to call 101 and give the reference 5221261875.
