Police have released CCTV footage of a suspected stalker who stole underwear from a woman’s garden and was spotted staring into her bedroom.

Security cameras snapped the man, who is stockily built and has dark hair, standing in the woman’s garden looking into her property in September.

Police want to locate the suspected stalker in connection with a series of indecent exposure offences in south London.

Officers were first contacted by the woman, who is in her 30s, in August – when she said she was being stalked by an unknown man.

She had decided to contact the police after a number of disturbing incidents at her home in Putney over the previous three weeks, the first of which involved pairs of her underwear being taken off a clothes drier in her garden.

A week later, the victim noticed a footprint on her balcony after rainfall. Her neighbours scared away a man looking into her room around the same time.

Concerned, the victim decided to install a security camera to monitor the area. Then, at around 10pm on August 9, the camera captured a man standing in the garden looking into the property, prompting the woman to phone the police.

On September 1, the victim phoned officers after her cameras snapped a man in the garden. Police searched the area, but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect was reportedly wearing clothing similar to the August incident.

A man was again captured on CCTV in the garden twice in October and once in November, on two occasions wearing a balaclava.

Police officers have now released images – including a rendered e-fit – of the man.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: ‘Officers from the South West area’s Criminal Investigation Department are investigating and believe the suspect could be linked to a series of indecent exposure incidents reported in the nearby Putney Hill area between April 2019 and February 2020.

‘The suspect is described as a white male, with dark hair, about 5ft 7ins to 5ft 11ins tall, of average to stocky build.

Anyone who knows the male or has any information is asked to call police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers.’

Police say the suspect has stalked the female victim between last April and last February
