A 24-year-old pregnant Brazilian woman was killed along with a man after being tied up and set ablaze in a car by a group that included the married father of her unborn child, according to a report.
Ellen Priscila Ferreira da Silva was four months pregnant when she and Ely Carlos dos Santos, 39, were torched in the car, which belonged to her mother, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the Sun reported.
Three men and a woman have been arrested in the horrific crime, which lead investigator Paulo de Tars described as “premeditated” and “very cruel.”
Two of the suspects — a 19-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman — have confessed, according to the news outlet.
“One of the suspects even personally comforted the victim’s mother after her death was confirmed,” de Tars said.
“The victim was four months pregnant by one of the suspects, who is married,” he added. “His wife, who confessed, and who is also pregnant, knew.”
Police were still investigating a motive for the attack, but de Tars said the victims may have been in debt to a drug dealer who also was collared.
“Another point is that Ellen refused to abort the child conceived in the extramarital relationship,” he said.
The prime suspect is believed to be a 38-year-old man, the father of the unborn child, who initially told investigators he also had been attacked and that he pretended to faint to avoid being incinerated.
He later admitted to self-inflicting his wounds under the effect of drugs, the news outlet reported.
