When did you first start your business career?

Marcel Sanders response: I was fortunate that my family is from an entrepreneurial background. I was lucky enough to of had the opportunity to put my learning to the test when I started to work as an employees at a food and beverage concession at a water park. Within 12 months I managed to own all the concessions within the water park at the age of 16. I remember having 16 employees working for me during the summer holidays, so that was the start of my business care during my studies.

When did you make your first million?

Marcel Sanders response: When I completed my studies I was able to buy my first house and went into the construction business. I remember my first ever villa construction contract which was planned in a brand new urbanization. The urbanization was so new in fact that the old boundary markers were not replaced by the new ones. So I actually built the foundation of the villa in the wrong place. I decided to tear down the villa and quickly replace the foundation in the correct position, but the owner of this villa was coming to see the progress one week after. I decided to continue building very slowly knowing that every brick I place was to be teared down. After his week’s visit which seemed never ending, I tore down the foundation that evening and was already pouring fresh concrete the next day. I managed to complete the villa on time and on budget. This gave me great integrity and credibility in the market and ending up building many villas for high end clients, which lead to me making my first million when I was 20 years old.

What was your biggest challenge in your life?

Marcel Sanders response: After successfully building multiple villas I had the opportunity to jump into something big. So big in fact that I decided to complete all the villa contracts and only perused the buying and selling of a mega 60 hectare ocean fronted parcel of land. That seemed easy, all I needed to do is secure the land, obtain the planning permission and sell the project on a potential end buyer which I already had in place, securing my retirement at an early age. How wrong I was! The land was made up of so many individual parcels of land of which I had to secure each and every parcel within the entire 60 hectares, using expensive mezzanine financing. This would have been okay, but my end buyer went bankrupt in the middle of this process, so my biggest dreamed turned into my biggest nightmare. Not only did I lose my end buyer I also was heavily in debt with high maintained mezzanine financing. There was only a number of property developing companies which I could approach due to the cheer values involved. It took me 2 years to make a joint venture for this project. This really was one of my life biggest challenges and also one of my most successful projects at the same time.

I heard you made a partnership with the president of Benfica?

Marcel Sanders response: Yes, I remember being in the swimming pool one Sunday and I got an unexpected phone call saying that someone is on the way to see my project (mentioned above). I was about to cancel but then in the back of my mind I knew that I had to pursue every opportunity that comes my way. I arrived at the location greeted the gentlemen not know who they were and a little annoyed about this unannounced Sunday meeting. I was a little cocky while showing the land. The client turned around to me and said I want you to remaining in the project and I would like to sign a pre-sales commitment today! So I phoned up my lawyer at the time which happened to be 300 km away and asked him to come and help me the legalities of the pre-sales agreement. My lawyer asked who are these people? While still being on the phone I asked the gentleman who they were and he responded “Luís Filipe Vieira”. I repeated the name to my lawyer on the phone. He responds and asked “is this the Luís Filipe Ferreira Vieira the president of the Benfica football club? I asked the gentleman “are you the president of the Benfica football club?” He answered “Yes”. Not being a great football fan, I never realised I was actually talking to the Benfica President himself. My lawyer come down that Sunday and that is how my partnership with the President of Benfica started.

You are not a football fan?

Marcel Sanders response: I was lucky and fortunate enough to meet and engage with very special people in the football world, such as one of the most famous football agent Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Rolando and Luiz Felipe Scolari. I remember making a sponsorship with Jorge Mendes, for one of his athletes. Jorge Mendes, ended up inviting me on his private jet with the Cristiano Ronaldo’s family to see the UEFA Champions League finals in Italy. Not being a great fan and not wanting to be impolite for such a great invitations which was a great honour and amazing atmosphere.  Once you are watch live I might not great fan unless it is the European or World Cup.

When did you lost part of your fortune?

Marcel Sanders response: It was during the recession which was not just a regular cycle recession, this one took the whole world by surprise. The 2007 rescission was so big that it took down some of the largest banks with it. This was the time that I lost part of my fortune in the property market.

I heard you are affected by social media defamation?

Marcel Sanders response: Yes, unfortunately I was a victim of some individuals trying to extort money, that are part of a group wanted by European Crime watch see will never give in to such characters. Unfortunately today, anyone can become victim of defamation from people hiding behind their IP or posting their fantasy stories in the social media. I just feel sorry for such people as they would be in much better position if they would only shift their way of thinking to a more constructive and positive one.

How did you manage to make your comeback?

Marcel Sanders response: I was helping some people with their projects, which was the moment I meet a group of people that were involved in the mining industry. I was asked to structure the funding for one of the mining exploration licenses of which I ended up financing and co-owning. Since 2015 I heavily focused on acquiring early stage high potential mining exploration licenses working with credible and capable partners. I became one of the fastest growing mining tycoons in the mining industry, currently co-owner mining exploration licenses over 3 times the surface area Lichtenstein with an abundance of gold and copper mineral resources.

What made you want to help people?

Marcel Sanders response: Today, I have fulfilled all I could in the mining sector so now I am focusing on helping other people achieve their goals. I am donating part of my earning and giving back into the communities that have supported me and my projects. Although it is not always about helping finically as everyone is capable of helping themselves, I believe a big part is all about ones mind-set. Marcel Sanders will sponsor and launch in the latter part of 2021 a peer to peer platform whereby donors can donate with zero fees, directly to their donee which is traceable and transparent via the blockchain. How wonderful would it be if you can see your donation is actually really helping the end donee which can be traced via the blockchain. The platform will enable direct communications between the gift donor and donee. I am working to build up the infrastructure together with the local provinces of operation. I have an office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where I do most of my personal meetings and I am occasionally reachable via my secretary’s email [email protected] Although, I cannot answer to everyone at this stage, as I am currently dedicating my time to build the platform, the best way to communicate will be via platform as this is an effective transparent tool for communication, helping and connecting people together.
