Ex-WWE star Brodie Lee, aka Luke Harper, has died at the age of 41.
The world-famous wrestler, whose real name was Jonathan Huber, began wrestling with All Elite Wrestling as Brodie Lee back in March.
Who was wrestler Brodie Lee?
Brodie Lee was an American professional wrestler.
Best know for his time in WWE – where he used the name Luke Harper – the wrestler began competing with All Elite Wrestling in March.
Born Jonathan Huber on December 16, 1979 in Rochester, New York, the young Huber attended McQuaid Jesuit High School where he played lacrosse and hockey.
In 2003, Brodie started working on the independent wrestling circuit, before signing with WWE in 2012.
The wrestler debuted in NXT as a member of The Wyatt Family and for most of his WWE career, he was closely associated with Wyatt Family members Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan.
How did Brodie Lee die?
Brodie Lee died aged 41 after from a "non-Covid related lung issue", his partner Amanda Huber wrote on Instagram.
Writing in a passionate post after her husband’s death, Amanda Huber said Brodie Lee "passed surrounded by loved ones after a hard fought battle with a non Covid related lung issue."
She added: “My best friend died today. I never wanted to write out those words. My heart is broken.”
Was Brodie Lee married?
Brodie Lee was married to Amanda Huber, who is also known by her wrestling persona Synndy Synn.
In a tribute to her husband, Amanda wrote on Instagram: "The world saw him as the amazing @brodielee (fka Luke Harper) but he was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you would ever meet.
"No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am right now.”
Amanda married Jonathan in 2008.
The heartbroken wife thanked All Elite Wrestling today – where Jonathan started wrestling as Brodie Lee back in March – for how they “treated not only my husband but myself and my kids.”
Amanda wrote: “The team at AEW have helped keep me standing and pick up all the broken pieces.”
Did Brodie Lee have children?
Brodie and Amanda had two sons together called Brodie and Nolan, aged eight and three.
All Elite Wrestling paid tribute to the sportsman today, saying: "Jon's love for his wife Amanda, and children Brodie and Nolan, was evident to all of us who were fortunate to spend time with him, and we send our love and support to his beautiful family, today and always."
